Zenith Oversize Manual Wind | Cal. 120 In-House | 37 mm | 1950s Swiss Vintage

Description

This is a bold, oversized 1950s Zenith that wears its age openly. At 37 mm without crown, it sits large even by modern standards and feels unmistakably mid-century on the wrist. The watch shows heavy use and restoration, but that’s part of the appeal here. It’s a mechanically honest Zenith powered by an in-house movement, built in an era when size, legibility, and robustness mattered more than perfection.

This piece has clearly lived a life. The case shows significant wear, the dial has been repainted, and several components have been replaced over time. What remains intact is the heart of the watch: Zenith’s Calibre 120, a respected manual-wind movement known for durability and straightforward serviceability.

This is not a museum piece. It’s a vintage Zenith you wear because you like watches with stories, not because you want untouched originality.

Historical Context

Zenith’s Calibre 120 is one of the brand’s dependable mid-century manual movements, produced during a period when Zenith was firmly established as a serious Swiss manufacture. Oversized cases like this were uncommon in the 1950s, making this watch especially appealing to collectors who appreciate larger vintage proportions.

While originality purists may pass due to refinished elements, this watch offers something else: wrist presence, mechanical authenticity, and a genuine vintage Zenith experience at a far more approachable level.
