Omega De Ville Quartz | Ref 192.0035 | Blue-Grey Dial | Steel TV Case | Omega Bracelet | Boxed

Description

The TV-screen case is the shape most people picture when they think of a 1970s Omega, and this is it in stainless steel, which is the less common way to find it. The cushion case is broad and flat, brushed on top with polished bevels, and it flows straight into a matching Omega steel bracelet.

The dial is a brushed blue-grey that shifts between steel and pale blue as it moves, with applied batons, a date at three, the Omega symbol and De Ville Quartz under it. Clean, legible and very much of its decade.

The bracelet is Omega's own, stamped ST 1285.248 with end links numbered 42 on the signed clasp, the bracelet Omega fitted to its steel De Ville quartz models of the period. This is reference 192.0035, running Omega's calibre 1342 quartz movement. It comes in a long Omega presentation box.

Historical Significance

Omega launched the De Ville name in 1960 as a dressier branch of the Seamaster, and through the 1970s it became the home of Omega's bolder case designs, the TV-screen cushion above all. When Omega moved into quartz, the De Ville was where most of those movements went, making the steel De Ville Quartz on its original bracelet one of the most characteristic Omegas of the era.
