Description

The De Ville in its most wearable ladies form. A small round case in two-tone steel and gold, a polished gold bezel framing a silver dial, and applied gold batons as the only decoration.

It runs on a seven-row two-tone bracelet that tapers closely into the case, so the whole watch reads as one object rather than a head on a strap. Nothing here is trying to be noticed, which is precisely the De Ville argument.

Omega introduced De Ville as a dress offshoot of the Seamaster in the early 1960s and made it a line in its own right by 1967. In the ladies catalogue it became the house's steady seller, a small quartz watch built to Omega case standards and sold on finish rather than complication. The two-tone treatment belongs to the period when steel and gold together read as the more modern choice.
