Description

The purest version of the De Ville idea. A plain champagne dial, applied gold batons, a slim gold-plated case, and nothing else. No calendar, no seconds register, no text beyond the Omega signature and the De Ville Quartz script.

The lugs are the detail worth noticing. They flare outward and curve down in a single sweep, so the case appears to grow into the strap rather than sit on top of it. It is a quietly expensive piece of case design that most people will never consciously register.

On black croc-embossed leather with a gold-tone buckle, it is about as unobtrusive as a gold Omega can be.

Historical Significance

Omega spun De Ville off from the Seamaster in 1967 and gave it a single job: the thinnest, plainest, best proportioned dress watch the company could build. When quartz arrived Omega did not restyle the line, it simply changed the calibre, so a De Ville Quartz of this period carries the same case geometry and dial discipline as its mechanical predecessors. The flared lug treatment is the signature of that run.
