Omega Ladies Cocktail Watch | Solid 14K Gold Case | Roman Dial | Circa 1940
Description
A genuinely early Omega, and a solid gold one. The caseback interior is stamped Omega, 14 KARAT GOLD and the case number 247566, so this is real 14 karat gold rather than plate or fill, which is unusual at this size and increasingly hard to find honestly described.
The dial is cream with fine black Roman numerals and a printed minute track, and the hands are blued steel, which is the detail that lifts these little cocktail watches. It has aged the way pre-war dials do, with light speckling across the surface, described in full below. The movement is out of the case in one of the photographs, so you can see exactly what you are buying.

Historical Significance
The seventeen jewel count and the UNADJUSTED stamp are not signs of a lesser movement, they are American paperwork. The Tariff Act of 1930 required every imported movement to be indelibly stamped with its country of origin, its importer, its jewel count and whether it was adjusted, and United States duty scaled with the number of jewels, so Omega supplied seventeen jewel movements to its American agent to keep watches affordable. The OXG code identifies that agent as the Norman M. Morris Corporation of New York, which cased many of them domestically. The solid 14 karat gold case and the American bracelet both fit that story.
