Omega Bumper Automatic | Ref G6232 | Cal 354 | Arrowhead Dial | 14K Gold Filled | 1950s
Description
Mid-century Omega at its most elegant. A soft cream dial carries applied arrowhead markers, each with a small inlay of aged lume, a fine minute track and Omega Automatic under the symbol, with long faceted dauphine hands sweeping over it.
The case is 14K gold filled, stamped on the case side, with stepped lugs and a gently domed crystal. This is the American-market reference G6232, around 34.5mm, where Omega movements were cased in the United States for local buyers. Inside is the calibre 354, Omega's bumper automatic, whose weight swings through an arc and bounces off small springs at each end, a gentle knock you can feel on the wrist.
It wears a black leather strap closed by a signed Omega buckle.

Historical Significance
Omega's first self-winding watches of the late 1940s and 1950s, the bumper automatics, made the brand's name in America, where import duty rules meant movements were shipped from Switzerland and cased locally, very often in 14K gold filled. Arrowhead markers and dauphine hands are the signature dial of that decade.
