Longines Grand Prize Automatic | Silver Dial | 10K Gold Filled | Sub-Seconds
Description
Grand Prize is a name Longines earned rather than invented, taken from the ten Grands Prix the house collected at international exhibitions between 1867 and 1937, more than any other watchmaker. It was applied to automatics sold into the American market, and it is printed proudly beneath the winged hourglass at twelve.
The case is 10K gold filled with a faceted, stepped bezel that breaks the light around the dial edge, and the silver brushed dial carries applied gold batons with a sunken sub-seconds register at six. The crown is Longines signed.

Historical Significance
Longines was awarded ten Grand Prix at international exhibitions, beginning at Antwerp in 1885 and running through Paris, Milan, Genoa, Bern, Philadelphia and Barcelona to 1929, alongside twenty-eight gold medals. No other watchmaker has matched that record, and the Grand Prize line was named to carry it onto the dial. It was a short-lived family, made from roughly 1958 to 1964, and consisted almost entirely of thin, elegant everyday dress watches in steel and gold fill.
