Longines Diamond Dial | White Gold Filled Tank | Kestenmade Mesh | Wittnauer Box and Guarantee
Description
A Longines dress watch from the American Longines-Wittnauer years, and it comes in the box it was sold in. The rectangular tank case is 10K white gold filled, with a florentine-textured frame around an oval silver sunburst reserve.
Four diamonds mark 12, 3, 6 and 9, each in a faceted collet, with engraved starburst markers at the other hours, so the dial throws small points of light as the wrist turns. Slim dauphine hands and the Longines name complete a very clean layout.
It sits on a period Kestenmade mesh bracelet in matching 1/20 10K gold fill, stamped Made in USA, and arrives in the red and gold Wittnauer presentation box, printed A Longines-Wittnauer Product, with the Wittnauer guarantee registration booklet, unfilled.

Historical Significance
From the 1950s Longines watches for the United States were imported and cased by the Longines-Wittnauer Watch Company of New York, which is why a Longines dial so often arrives in a Wittnauer box. Diamond-set dials in white gold filled cases were the dressiest end of that American range, made for evening wear, and finding one still with its presentation box and guarantee is uncommon.
